KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timuran & Shuttle Timuran DMU Train Service Updates (2024 Northeastern Peninsular Malaysia Floods)

The KTM East Coast Line is currently disrupted with the end-2024 Northeastern Peninsular Malaysia Floods. Flooding is a natural occurrence in parts on the East coast of Peninsular Malaysia with continuous rain in the monsoon season. Here are the known train service disruption statuses from 26 November 2024 onwards for Ekspres Rakyat Timuran and Shuttle Timuran trains.


26 November 2024 (Tuesday)

Flooding between Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas.

  • Shuttle Timuran SH52 (Gua Musang – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH55 (Tumpat – Dabong) will terminate at Pasir Mas and start from Tanah Merah (2 separate train sets, no connection).
  • Shuttle Timuran SH56 (Dabong – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH57 (Tumpat – Gua Musang) will start from Tanah Merah.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH58 (Gua Musang – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH60 (Kuala Lipis – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.
  • Ekspres Rakyat Timuran ERT26 (JB Sentral – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.
  • Ekspres Rakyat Timuran ERT27 (Tumpat – JB Sentral) will start from Tanah Merah.

All other trains are operating normally.
All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.

27 November 2024 (Wednesday)

Flooding and land subsidence between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

Details of train services between Gua Musang and Tanah Merah are not known. Assume that train services are not available unless proven otherwise.

  • Ekspres Rakyat Timuran ERT27 (Tumpat – JB Sentral) is CANCELLED.
  • Ekspres Rakyat Timuran ERT26 (JB Sentral – Tumpat) which departed from JB Sentral on 27 November 2024 will terminate at Gua Musang Station when it arrives on 28 November 2024.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH57 (Tumpat – Gua Musang) will terminate at Gua Musang.
  • Shuttle Timuran SH60 (Kuala Lipis – Tumpat) will terminate at Tanah Merah.

All other trains will not operate between between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.
All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


28 November 2024 (Thursday)

Flooding and land subsidence between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


29 November 2024 (Friday)

Flooding and land subsidence between Gemas and Bahau. Service is recovering between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


30 November 2024 (Saturday)

Service is recovering between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


1 December 2024 (Sunday)

Service is recovering between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


2 December 2024 (Monday)

Service is recovering between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


3 December 2024 (Tuesday)

The railway line between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu has recovered.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


4 December 2024 (Wednesday)

The railway line between Manek Urai and Bukit Abu has recovered.

All trains may be disrupted without prior notice.
Trains that are operating will have possibilities for delays.


5 December 2024 (Thursday)

All train services have recovered.

This will be the final update unless trains get disrupted again during this same season.
