KTM East Coast Train Services Fully Resumed from 5 December 2024

KTM Intercity passenger train services on the East Coast Line have resumed operations following the receding of water levels between Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah (KM 490.00 – KM 492.75) on 2 December 2024. The resumption of train services comes after KTMB’s Track Engineering team conducted a thorough inspection of the tracks and routes to ensure the safety of train operations.

The Shuttle Timuran DMU train service began operations on Tuesday, 3 December 2024 for the Kuala Lipis – Tumpat – Kuala Lipis route.

The Ekspres Rakyat Timuran train services operating on the JB Sentral – Tumpat – JB Sentral route will resume operations on Thursday, 5 December 2024.

Earlier on 2 December 2024, KTMB also provided limited train services between Bukit Abu, Kuala Gris Station, and Dabong Station to assist students attending the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

KTMB will continue to monitor conditions in high-risk areas by referring to the latest forecasts from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) and working closely with relevant agencies to ensure smooth and safe train operations.

Passengers on the East Coast route affected by journeys scheduled from 27 November 2024 to 4 December 2024 are informed that the refund period for tickets has been extended to 30 days from the travel date.
