KTMB Strengthens Preparedness for JB-KL ETS3 Implementation

KTM Berhad welcomes the announcement made by the Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, regarding the anticipated commencement of the Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) operations along the Kuala Lumpur Sentral – Johor Bahru Sentral route on 12 December 2025.

KTMB has undertaken comprehensive operational preparations, covering travel schedule configuration, ticketing systems, and staff readiness. The company is currently awaiting final approval from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and other relevant authorities concerning infrastructure clearance before the service can commence full operations.

To date, 4 out of 10 ETS3 train sets have successfully passed the Pemeriksaan Cermat Akhir (PCA), received certification, and are ready for operation.

Based on the current configuration, KTMB plans to begin the service with 4 daily trips on the KL Sentral – JB Sentral – KL Sentral route. The number of services will gradually increase in line with the delivery and certification of additional train sets passing PCA.

For journeys from JB Sentral heading northwards, operations will be introduced in phases, in line with infrastructure readiness, scheduling requirements, and the availability of operational assets.
