Padang Minangkabau International Airport Buses • DAMRI & Tranex Mandiri

Padang’s Minangkabau International Airport is served by 2 dedicated airport bus routes operated by DAMRI and Tranex Mandiri in addition to the new Minangkabau Express. Both share a similar routing between the airport and Basko Grand Mall, thereafter splitting off with DAMRI taking the coastal route to Kota Padang and Tranex Mandiri taking the inland route to Lubuk Begalung.

Both DAMRI and Tranex Mandiri buses can be accessed from the Arrivals area. Whether you are coming from the International Arrival or Domestic Arrival points, turn left and head towards the end of the terminal.

DAMRI Minangkabau Airport Bus

The DAMRI Minangkabau Airport Bus runs the route between Minangkabau International Airport and Imam Bonjol in Kota Padang, serving hotels and attractions by the seaside.

Route: Minangkabau International Airport – Kota Padang via Simpang Duku – Lubuk Buaya – Tabing Railway Station – Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) – Basko Grand Mall / Basko Hotel – Ulak Karang – Hotel Pangeran Beach – Jl. Ir.H.Juanda – Jl.Veteran – Plaza Andalas – Jl. Diponegoro – Hotel Inna Muara – Hotel Bumi Minangkabau – Jl.Niaga/Pondok – Imam Bonjol/Pasar Raya (ie. seaside route)

Operating Hours: Every 1 hour during daytime only (exact timetable unknown for buses departing from Minangkabau International Airport)

Estimated journey time: 45 minutes

Flat Fare: Rp. 23,500/person

DAMRI operates with 30-seater midibuses, so it should be relatively easy to get a seat.

Buses can be caught at the Arrival area. Just look out for buses with the word DAMRI on them. Note that there are no specific signs around the terminal mentioning about the DAMRI airport bus service.

In Kota Padang, DAMRI has a bus shelter at Imam Bonjol on the opposite side from the market.

Timetable for the DAMRI Minangkabau Airport Bus departing from Imam Bonjol to Minangkabau International Airport:

Buses operate from 6.15am to 5.15pm with mostly at hourly intervals departing at the 15th minute of the hour, with the exception of one bus in the morning and another in the afternoon as stated in the above timetable.


Tranex Mandiri Minangkabau Airport Bus

The Tranex Mandiri Minangkabau Airport Bus runs the route between Minangkabau International Airport and Lubuk Begalung, passing through the inland road of Kota Padang before making the westward turn to the terminus, serving hotels and attractions on the inland route.

Route: Minangkabau International Airport – Simpang Lubuk Begalung via Simpang Duku – Lubuk Buaya – Tabing Railway Station – Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) – Basko Grand Mall / Basko Hotel – Jl. Khatib Sulaiman – Jln. Rasuna Said – Jl. Sudirman – Simpang Pasar Raya – Jln. Agus Salim – Simpang Haru – Jln. Dr. Sutomo – Marapalam – Jln. Aru – Simpang Lubuk Begalung (ie. inland route)

Operating Hours: Every 1 hour during daytime only (exact timetable unknown)

Estimated journey time: 45 minutes to Kota Padang, 60 minutes to Lubuk Begalung.

Flat Fare: Rp. 23,500/person

Tranex Mandiri operates with 13-seater minibuses, so you may need to get to the bus early to secure a seat.

The Minangkabau ExpressDAMRI Minangkabau Airport Bus and Tranex Mandiri Airport Bus operate on each of their unique routes into Kota Padang, and allows you to avoid the hefty taxi fares while providing ample space for you and your luggage. While it isn’t current well promoted on the internet, do give public transportation a shot the next time you visit Padang.
