Causeway Link Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1: Senai International Airport to JB Sentral by Express Bus

As my AirAsia AK6173 flight from Alor Setar landed 25 minutes early into Senai Airport, I hurried down to the Causeway Link counter to see if it was possible to make it for the 5pm Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 to JB Sentral as this will save me an hour of waiting time at Senai Airport. This tight connection will also get me from Alor Setar Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to JB Sentral in only 2 hours.

Thankfully, the ticket counter still showed the next bus departure at 5pm.

My ticket for the Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus ride from Senai Airport to JB Sentral. This costs RM8.

Follow the signs straight ahead to the Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus bay.

It would have been cheaper with the AirAsia Shuttle Bus, but the departure times of the 5-times-daily shuttle bus did not suit my AirAsia AK6173 flight’s arrival time.

The Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus was already waiting at the bus bay.

However, boarding was not made yet. There is a small seating area at the bus bay for waiting passengers.

Departing from Senai Airport on schedule.

Heading on to JB.

Bypassing under the Senai-Desaru Expressway.

Passing over the former KTM Senai Halt at the junction of Senai Highway.

Feels strange to see this section of track so quickly when I just flew over the electrified double tracks of Anak Bukit just about an hour ago.

As the Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus is an express airport bus service, no intermediate stops are made along the journey, which the people at the bus stop are probably puzzled over.

However, the Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus did not use the EDL to JB Sentral, but rather, continued down via Route 1 like a normal bus.

Passing by Skudai Parade.

Entering Johor Bahru City.

Passing under the KTM Tanjung Pelepas Line.

Passing by the new Paradigm Mall.

Entering the complicated Danga Bay junction.

A straightforward drive through the Danga Bay junction.

Passing by the entrance arch to Istana Bukit Serene.

Passing by the Laser Fountain.

Passing by Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru (not to be confused with Johor Bahru City Square).

Passing by the Great Palace of Johor, now used only for investitures, state banquets and royal functions.

Approaching Johor Bahru City Centre.

Flying over Jalan Tun Abdul Razak and the southern end of JB Sentral Railway Station.

Turning to JB Sentral Bus Terminal.

The Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus journey from Senai Airport to JB Sentral took 40 minutes.

Heading on the very familiar path up to JB Sentral’s main hall.

Heading up to JB Sentral Railway Station in the hopes of getting an unsold Shuttle Tebrau ticket.

Unfortunately, as expected for a Sunday evening, all tickets are sold out.

From here, I headed on to walk to the bus checkpoint where I braved the Sunday night crowd to get back to Singapore by bus.

Overall, the Causeway Link Senai Airport Shuttle Service AA1 bus is a reasonably quick and affordable way to get from Senai International Airport to JB Sentral by express bus, and thanks to the quick connection I made from my flight, this was a very quick journey from Alor Setar too, and a strangely quick end to my northern states trip.
