Shuttle Tebrau 96up: Woodlands CIQ to Johor Bahru Sentral by Last Train at 11.45pm

The Shuttle Tebrau is a highly popular mode of transport between Woodlands CIQ and Johor Bahru Sentral, with tickets selling out in 15 seconds, 30 days before departure at 8.30am for the most popular train despite the high fares based on distance travelled. For this occasion, on a super peak weekend, I decided to camp early online to purchase my Shuttle Tebrau 96up ticket, the last train of the day, so I can connect with the last Transnasional bus of the day departing from Larkin Sentral later on to get to KL.

Luckily, I had purchased my Shuttle Tebrau 96up ticket as the checkpoint area was so jammed, the 856 bus I was on had to do a diversion and skip Woodlands Train Checkpoint altogether, so I had to walk from Marsiling Park to Woodlands Train Checkpoint. I can’t imagine what it would be like on the road and in the bus halls at Woodlands and JB Sentral queuing, while in anticipation of my impending 1am bus departure.

At Woodlands CIQ, Shuttle Tebrau tickets are now scanned for entry by a porter or TC rather than just verifying by sight, just like a KLOOK redemption.

Once done with the usual immigration and customs formalities, it’s on board the train where I can fish my camera out again.

Entering an empty JB Sentral hall at midnight, heading down to catch a Grab to Larkin Sentral as there are no more buses at this time.

Overall, an early morning sacrifice a month ago was worth it to get the Shuttle Tebrau 96up to skip the 4-hour jam across the Causeway on this end-of-year Friday night.
