Flight Review: Scoot TR867 from Bangkok Don Mueang to Singapore by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Scoot TR867 DMK SIN 001

Scoot TR867 used to serve the Osaka-Kansai – Singapore via Bangkok-Don Mueang route, departing late at night, which got truncated some time last year, with NokScoot taking over the Osaka-Kansai – Bangkok-Don Mueang route. Now, Scoot flies the remaining Singapore – Bangkok-Don Mueang portion using the same flight number, with a similar late night schedule departing at 11.15pm, allowing me to maximise my day in Bangkok.

Heading into the ASEAN Lane for immigration. Immigration and security was rather quick with many China flights not flying to Bangkok any more due to COVID-19.

To cater for Chinese passengers, Don Mueang Airport has lots of hot water dispensers (8) in contrast to just 1 cold water dispenser in the middle.

I headed to board last so that my phone could be charged up as much as possible.

As my seat was rather upfront, I didn’t have to walk much to get to my seat.

The new button guards on the armrest so that you don’t set off the Scoot light-and-sound show during boarding. If you had flown on Scoot’s 787 before this, you’d know what I mean.

The cabin lights were changed to blue to prepare for the safety demonstration.

The doors were armed with my row empty, so I proceeded to sprawl out for the night with the window, middle and aisle seat all to myself.

The flight touched down at 2.20am – 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

Landing in Singapore, you can tell about the humidity by this tick condensation on the window which does not allow me to take photos of anything.

Overall, a convenient overnight flight to maximise time in Bangkok, though you will get really tired for the rest of the day after the flight due to insufficient sleep. But if you can deal with that, it is pretty useful for a good full day in Bangkok.
