I had originally wanted to take a bus up from Singapore to KL to catch my Brunei flight, but alas, AirAsia was offering a RM58 all-in return fare from JB to KL on my dates, so I decided to abandon the bus idea and stick with AirAsia for easier transfers because now everyone can fly at a price cheaper than a bus. I chose AirAsia AK6049 from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur which was the last flight of the day from Senai Airport to connect with my early morning flight to Bandar Seri Begawan at klia2 the next early morning.
Heading to the self check-in kiosk area to get my boarding pass.
Printing out my boarding pass from the self check-in kiosk.
My boarding pass for my AirAsia AK6049 flight from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur.
Heading to the departure hall.
The departure screen with KLIA-bound flights delayed due to the KLIA systems being down at the time of my trip. Thankfully I’m with AirAsia and not Malindo or Malaysia Airlines.
Heading to security clearance.
Once done, it’s an escalator up to the transit area.
Heading through the empty duty free shop to the gates.
And in less than a minute after security, I’m at my gate at Gate 2.
The line of people waiting to board the AirAsia AK6049 flight from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur.
I decided to be one of the last to board again so as to not stand in the queue for too long. Boarding passes are simply scanned here for boarding.
A Jin Air Boeing 737-800 readying to depart for Seoul-Incheon at Senai Airport.
Oh, no aerobridge today.
So near yet so far.
Heading to the door to the stairwell before the aerobridge.
Heading down the stairs to the apron.
Walking to the aircraft on the apron.
Oh well, considering that I paid a fare cheaper than a bus ticket, I shall pretend that I’m taking a bus at Larkin instead.
As my seat was at the rear of the aircraft, I headed up by the rear door.
Looking back at the terminal building.
The legroom of my window seat on the AirAsia Airbus A320-200.
More AirAsia planes arriving at the remote stands to rest for the night.
ROKKI Wi-Fi was available on board my flight though it was for a very short duration due to the very short flight time.
Taxiing to the runway with the Jin Air ready to push back.
Taxiing away from the terminal building.
Enjoy your LCC flight to Seoul.
Taking off from Senai Airport.
Goodbye Senai and Kulai.
Turning slightly left towards KL.
The Johor lights at night.
After the seat belt signs were switched off, the crew quickly went on their way to deliver their meal service. For this short supper flight, I pre-booked myself a Chef Hong Thaimee’s INSPI(RED) Burger for RM10.60 (~S$3.50). As this is a domestic flight, 6% SST is charged.
The AirAsia INSPI(RED) Burger nicely wrapped in the box. This time though, the burger tasted rather dry. Maybe it had spent too much time flying around in the dry environment on board the plane for the whole day before being served to me at night.
Touching down in klia2 at 12.08am – 18 minutes delayed from schedule. This also accidentally made this JB to KL hop a red-eye overnight flight with the (+1) in the schedule.
Taxiing across the Satellite Building.
Turning to the domestic pier with the view of the Skybridge.
Turning into Gate J1. Absolutely perfect.
The full house of AirAsia aircraft at Pier J.
Parked at Gate J1.
Disembarking from the aircraft.
Disembarking via the aerobridge.
As Gate J1 was the first gate on the left (right?) side of the pier, it was just a short walk to exit the domestic transit area.
Heading up the brainless afterthought of a travellator with barricades in front of it preventing perhaps prams or wheelchairs to access for safety, but also foot passengers with luggage to use it.
Continuing my walk on the travellator.
As it was super late at night, the next morning already in fact, all the shops were already closed.
Heading out of the mega advertising screens after customs.
Back in the public area of klia2. Too bad I’m not heading to KL though.
The 18 minute delay of my flight as shown on the arrival screens at the domestic arrival hall.
From here, I headed up immediately to the departure hall to continue on my flight to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
Overall, another pleasant and convenient flight with AirAsia, saving me the hassle of an overnight bus ride and transfer from TBS to klia2, but instead, flying me directly into klia2 for a bit more sleep in transit while waiting for my next early morning flight, at a price cheaper than a bus. Truly, now everyone can fly.
Now, on to Bandar Seri Begawan.
