Flight Review: AirAsia AK6049 from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur (for Bandar Seri Begawan) by Airbus A320-200

I had originally wanted to take a bus up from Singapore to KL to catch my Brunei flight, but alas, AirAsia was offering a RM58 all-in return fare from JB to KL on my dates, so I decided to abandon the bus idea and stick with AirAsia for easier transfers because now everyone can fly at a price cheaper than a bus. I chose AirAsia AK6049 from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur which was the last flight of the day from Senai Airport to connect with my early morning flight to Bandar Seri Begawan at klia2 the next early morning.

I decided to be one of the last to board again so as to not stand in the queue for too long. Boarding passes are simply scanned here for boarding.

Oh well, considering that I paid a fare cheaper than a bus ticket, I shall pretend that I’m taking a bus at Larkin instead.

As my seat was at the rear of the aircraft, I headed up by the rear door.

After the seat belt signs were switched off, the crew quickly went on their way to deliver their meal service. For this short supper flight, I pre-booked myself a Chef Hong Thaimee’s INSPI(RED) Burger for RM10.60 (~S$3.50). As this is a domestic flight, 6% SST is charged.

AirAsia AK6049 JHB KUL for BWN 035

The AirAsia INSPI(RED) Burger nicely wrapped in the box. This time though, the burger tasted rather dry. Maybe it had spent too much time flying around in the dry environment on board the plane for the whole day before being served to me at night.

Touching down in klia2 at 12.08am – 18 minutes delayed from schedule. This also accidentally made this JB to KL hop a red-eye overnight flight with the (+1) in the schedule.

From here, I headed up immediately to the departure hall to continue on my flight to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

Overall, another pleasant and convenient flight with AirAsia, saving me the hassle of an overnight bus ride and transfer from TBS to klia2, but instead, flying me directly into klia2 for a bit more sleep in transit while waiting for my next early morning flight, at a price cheaper than a bus. Truly, now everyone can fly.

Now, on to Bandar Seri Begawan.
