Hotel Review: Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu Economic Double Room

Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu is a budget hotel located in central Kota Bharu, close by to Kota Bharu Bus Station, Pasar Siti Khadijah, and Kota Bharu Waterfront. For this 1-night stay in Kota Bharu, I picked Hotel Mewah Impiana for its price and location.

Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu

Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu is located about 600 meters away from Kota Bharu Bus Station, which is convenient for my purpose of visit.

Interestingly, Hotel Mewah Impiana is also known as M Hotel, which reminded me of another M Hotel.

Check-in

The check-in timing at Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu was strict at with a definite 2pm check-in time, with a RM40 charge for an early check-in any time before 2pm, including at 1.59pm.

Check-in was almost fuss-free with my agoda booking, though my booking wasn’t readied in a folder on the desk, but checking their email account revealed my paid booking. As usual, Tourism Tax was also requested, but I had a receipt from agoda showing that I had already paid my RM10 through agoda. I was asked to forward my agoda email confirmation and receipt to them for their bookkeeping.

An RM2 Kota Bharu tax was also charged, payable by cash, along with a RM50 refundable room deposit which will be refunded upon check-out.

Also interestingly, my TV remote was also issued from the front desk, instead of being readily available inside the room.

The interior of my booked Economic Double Room at Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu, which was bigger than I had expected.

A long table was placed by the window where more notices were. Also interestingly, a tank of water was provided, instead of bottles of water.

The water dispenser provided room temperature, warm, and hot water. Glasses are available to drink from. 3-pin power sockets are also available beside the water dispenser.

A wall-mounted hangar bar was also available, along with an ironing set and a full-height mirror. The TV was mounted on the wall from the top.

While switches were available by the bedside, there is annoyingly no charging socket.

Also more interestingly, the aircon remote was chained to the headboard near the bedside table. I wonder what the back story was for this.

The toilet is located beside the bed.

A bidet hose and toilet paper was provided by the toilet bowl.

A sink is available with lots of storage space.

A standing shower was also available with a magnetic closing.

Basic soap is provided in the standing shower.

While the water pressure was good, the water heater seems to only have 1 fixed temperature setting at 40°C displayed when switched on, but had steam coming out of the shower when switched on. This was not ideal, especially with the hot weather outside. However, the hot weather was hot enough to warm up the water in the pipes, so I made do without the water heater.

Conclusion

Hotel Mewah Impiana Kota Bharu was good for its price and location, enabling me to walk around everywhere I needed to go in Kota Bharu. My booked Economic Double Room was also spacious and reasonably clean. While the water heater issue was mitigated by the hot weather outside, it may not be ideal during the monsoon season when the water in the pipes would be cold, and the water heater too hot.
