JB Larkin Sentral to Only Accept Cashless Payments for RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass

JB Larkin Sentral to Only Accept Cashless Payments for RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass

JB Larkin Sentral will soon only accept cashless payments for the RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass charged to all passengers going to Singapore from Larkin Sentral. From 22 January 2024, cashless payments of Touch ‘n Go cards, Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, and MyDebit cards have been implemented. Cash is currently still accepted, however, the notice posted in the Singapore Departure Hall says otherwise.

This affects all regular cross-border buses heading from Larkin Sentral including SBS Transit Bus 170, Causeway Link Bus CW2 and CWL, and Singapore-Johore Express (SJE). All SBS Transit, Causeway Link, and Singapore-Johore Express passengers must pay RM1 to Larkin Sentral before boarding the bus.

Passengers boarding SBS Transit can simply go by using existing Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards for RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass and on-board bus fare payment.

Passengers boarding Causeway Link can simply go by using existing Visa credit and debit cards for RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass and on-board bus fare payment.

Passengers boarding any bus with cash (or ManjaLink for Causeway Link) should standby a spare Touch ‘n Go card, Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card, or MyDebit card to be used for the RM1 Singapore Boarding Pass at JB Larkin Sentral.

A sign in front of the Singapore Departure Hall simply states “Cashless Singapore Boarding Pass”.

New Turnstiles at Singapore Departure Hall

New turnstile gantries have been installed in the Singapore Departure Hall with a contactless card reader.

The contactless card reader accepts Touch ‘n Go cards, Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, and MyDebit cards directly at the gate. There is no need to take a QR code receipt.

The manual cash counter is still in place with a staff on hand selling the existing Singapore Boarding Pass for RM1.

The media statement posted in front of the counter states that this is the “next step” for a “higher standard of cashless method that can be safer, easier, faster, and convenience (sic) to all our respected passengers”. Passengers are also reminded to add value to debit and credit cards, which is not how debit and credit cards work.

Singapore Departure Hall

The Singapore Departure Hall consists of seats in front of the disused Gate 1. Only Gate 2 is in use for all buses.

A new vending machine selling drinks and snacks is also installed in the Singapore Departure Hall.

New gantries are also installed in front of Gate 2, but I’m not sure what the use is for. The arrows are marked with an “X” on masking tape, and passengers do not need to use these gates, and can simply walk around it.

Normal Bus Fares Apply

Pay your bus fare as per normal when boarding the bus. The Larkin RM1 charge to Singapore-bound passengers does not include the bus fare.
