The King of Malaysia Officiates Launch Of KTM Electric Train Service 94 Class EMU (ETS3), Personally Drives from KL to Kluang

His Majesty the King of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, today graciously officiated the KTM 94 Class EMU (ETS3), train service extension to Kluang Railway Station, and Laman Rel Mahkota park. This program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transport, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), and the Rail Division of YTL.

His Majesty Officiates ETS Kluang Extension

His Majesty personally drove the special ETS3 train, Royal ETS 9935dn, from Kuala Lumpur Railway Station to Kluang Railway Station, a journey of approximately 284 kilometers, with a journey time of approximately 3 hours and 27 minutes.

Those present included Transport Minister YB Loke Siew Fook, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport Dato’ Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, and KTMB Chairman Dato’ Ahmad Redza Abdullah.

Also in attendance were Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Azmi Rohani, Grand Chamberlain of Istana Negara, and Dato’ Azhar Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Railway Assets Corporation.

His Majesty Officiates Laman Rel Mahkota

Upon arrival at Kluang Station, His Majesty also officiated the opening ceremony of the Laman Rel Mahkota at the old Kluang Railway Station. Mahkota Rail Park is a new Kluang landmark, featuring an iconic 2.8-kilometer public park contributed by the local main contractor for the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project, SIPP-YTL JV.

Laman Rel Mahkota park retains the heritage identity of the Kluang railway since 1909 with original elements such as the old signage and tracks, combined with modern features like green landscaping, community art, family-friendly facilities, and interactive digital features.

Laman Rel Mahkota park will be open to the public starting 25 August 2025 daily from 6am to 9pm.
