KTM Ekspres Selatan 41dn Derails Near Genuang (29 October 2020)

The Ekspres Selatan 41dn derailed at KM 595 near Genuang Railway Station at around 2.40am on 29 October 2020, as reported by KTM Berhad on Facebook.

Datuk Ir. Kamarulzaman Zainal, Chief Executive Officer of KTM Berhad, said the train was traveling from Gemas Railway Station to Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) before derailing at KM 595, about five kilometers before Genuang Railway Station.

2 ASC (Hyundai-Padu Sedia) coaches and 1 25 Class locomotive was affected by the derailment, with 1 ASC (Hyundai-Padu Sedia) coach and 1 PGC safely detached after the incident.

All 10 passengers are safe, including the crew, and alternative transport was arranged for all 10 passengers to continue their journey to Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral).

Rehabilitation efforts are underway at the derailment site.

Detailed investigations have also been started to identify the cause of the incident, also involving the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
