Flight Review: Malaysia Airlines MH614 from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 to Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Boeing 737-800 (for Jakarta)

Airfares from Singapore to Jakarta have been very strangely high ever since travel restarted pretty much freely again in 2022. The cheapest way to get from Singapore to Jakarta last year for my dates of travel was ironically Malaysia Airlines with a transit in Kuala Lumpur, which costed me S$325.20. For the first leg of my journey, I flew the wrong way to Jakarta from Singapore by heading north with Malaysia Airlines MH614 from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1

Malaysia Airlines operated from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 while Terminal 2 was closed during the travel restrictions to speed up the upgrading.

Malaysia Airlines’ operations at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) has since been relocated back to Terminal 2 effective 23 May 2023.

Check-in for Malaysia Airlines was at Row 12, Level 2, Departure Hall, Terminal 1.

Do note that even with a fare of S$325.20, being in a lower fare class, this does not entitle me to any check-in bags with Malaysia Airlines.

My boarding passes for this trip to Jakarta via Kuala Lumpur. Unfortunately, the flight was very full, so I was stuck with a middle seat for the first leg to Kuala Lumpur.

The transit area of Terminal 1 was also undergoing some upgrading works during my trip.

Shops, however, have already been reopened.

Heading to the end of the pier for my gate.

My Malaysia Airlines MH614 flight from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 to Kuala Lumpur International Airport was departing from Gate D47.

9M-MLQ was operating on my Malaysia Airlines MH614 flight from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1 to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

IFE was available on thie aircraft. However, due to the short flight, headsets were not distributed. The IFE will still work if you have your own headset with a 3.5mm jack.

Still being sort of in the pandemic, hygiene kits were given out to all passengers which contains a non-surgical face mask, a sachet of hand sanitiser, and a sachet of sanitary wipes.

It was indeed quite a full flight to KL.

Flight information was not displayed yet when the aircraft was still on the ground.

A hygiene safety video was played before the regular safety video.

Been a while since I sat through a Malaysia Airlines safety video.

It was going to be a 303km journey from Singapore to KL.

After the seatbelt signs were switched off, the cabin crew starts to distribute the light snacks for this flight.

Each passenger received a packet of peanuts and a cup of orange juice. Water is also available on request.

It was quite an inland route to KL, similar to the railway alignment.

The flight map disappeared upon landing, changed to a thank you screen.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Interestingly, my Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-800 MH614 arrived at Gate C6, at the Satellite Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which is quite rare for a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-800.

With this Satellite Building arrival, it was also quite easy for me to transfer over to my next flight, which was just at the gate beside me. My next flight, Malaysia Airlines MH721, was also standing by already.

Heading up the rainforest-themed aerobridge.

No need to use the travellators this time.

Double-checking on the information screens to confirm that my next Malaysia Airlines MH721 flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 was departing from Gate C4 in front of me. An easy transfer this time.
