SRT Nakhon Withi Line 2044 from Bang Bamru to Bangkok Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal by Train

SRT Nakhon Withi Line 2044 Train from Bang Bamru to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal

SRT Nakhon Withi Line, formerly known as Light Red Line or Red Line (West), is the commuter train line operating between Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and Taling Chan Junction. Along with the name of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, King Vajiralongkorn bestowed the name of Nakhon Withi Line to this line on 8 September 2022 to mark this new era of railways in Thailand. Arriving from Rapid 171, the first long distance train departing from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, I made a quick transfer over to the Nakhon Withi Line section of Bang Bamru Railway Station to catch the SRT Nakhon Withi Line 2044 train departing in just 5 minutes.

Bang Bamru Railway Station

Heading into the Nakhon Withi Line fare gates with my card.

Heading down the underpass to the Nakhon Withi Line platform.

The Rapid 171 departed at 1.34pm, just as I got to the Nakhon Withi Line platform for Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.

The SRT Red Lines runs very on time, and my Nakhon Withi Line 2044 train was arriving at Bang Bamru Railway Station.

The Nakhon Withi Line operates mainly with 4-car Hitachi AT100 EMUs, affectionally known as Nong Daeng (Little Red).

The interior of the SRT Red Lines Hitachi AT100 EMU. There are almost no interior differences between the 4-car and 6-car types of SRT Red Lines Hitachi AT100 EMU.

Departing from Bang Bamru.

Heading under the Prachim Ratthaya Expressway.

Heading parallel with the Prachim Ratthaya Expressway.

Approaching Rama VI Bridge.

Overtaking the SRT Express 986 freight train along the Rama VI Bridge.

Crossing over the Chao Phraya River parallel to the Rama VI Bridge.

Taking the curve before Bang Son.

Passing by Bang Son MRT Station on the MRT Purple Line.

Passing under the MRT Purple Line tracks.

Bang Son Railway Station

Making a brief stop at Bang Son Railway Station.

Heading on top of the old southern Line track to Bang Sue Junction Railway Station. The old track alignment is still in use by Ordinary, Commuter and freight trains heading to Bang Sue Junction and Bangkok Hua Lamphong.

Passing by Bang Sue Locomotive Depot from above.

Heading under the spaghetti of tracks into Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.

Approaching Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.

Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal

With the tinted windows on the Hitachi AT100 EMU and the covered platforms of Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, the interior of the train becomes dark as it enters Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.

My Nakhon Withi Line 2044 arrived at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal on time at 1.46pm.

Heading down the escalator to the ticket gates and concourse.

From here, it was a quick transfer to the long distance train area again to catch my next joyride on the first long distance train ride on the northern section with Rapid 109 with just 9 minutes to the platform opening.

Or so I thought.

  1. Hi

That Red line train is wonderful. Clean, no graffiti and lots of room for luggage. Even on a Sunday morning the service was every ten minutes.

I arrived at the back of Krung Thep Aphiwat Terminal where there was no signage. I asked the security guard who walked me the whole way to the red line. When I arrived at Taling Chan the man in the information walked me to the southern line. I could have worked it out but he was keen to help. He surprisingly spoke some English. Outstanding service all round.
