Day 18-19: Moscow

Having only 2 days in Moscow, I went about exploring immediately after checking-in to my hostel. I got on the metro to Okhotny Ryad, where most of the places to visit are located a short walk away from each other from here.

The Moscow International Business Center.

Overall, Moscow was somewhat exceeding my expectations. I expected to see the typical tourist destinations with a feeling of the Soviet era, but I certainly wasn’t expecting the Moscow International Business Center to be what it is. Even the GUM Department Store was very modern on the inside.

I actually wouldn’t recommend a long stay in Moscow though. I covered all these areas across two days, returning to my hostel before the sun even set as I was tired due to the lack of sleep the previous night in the train. I believe Russia has plenty to offer, except that I didn’t have the time to go elsewhere in the huge country, not even St. Petersburg.

Moscow is also my final stopover in Europe. After this, the Trans-Mongolian will take me back to continental Asia.
