Hotel Review: Hotel Lisboa • Luxurious Modern Hotel In The Epicenter Of Macau

Hotel Lisboa is perhaps Macau’s defining landmark for navigation, being where all roads converge on the Macau Peninsula. It is also one of the founding casino hotels in the then-overseas province of Portugal. This time, I picked staying over in Hotel Lisboa Macau to have convenient access near everywhere, especially with the Praca Ferreira Amaral bus interchange just beside it.

I had booked the cheapest room type of Standard Twin, but the front desk said that my room has been “upgraded” during check-in. Walking in to the room, it certainly felt luxurious, though I’m not sure if this room type is still the Standard Twin.

The minibar is below the writing desk. All drinks and snacks in it were free of charge.

There is a separate rack for luggage.

Coffee and tea making facilities are at the corner counter, along with two bottles of mineral water.

The great surprise for me was certainly in the toilet.

The glorious toilet bowl in the toilet with a personal spotlight shining on it.

Hotel Lisboa 012

Lots of toiletries and amenities by the side.

Hotel Lisboa 010

Instead of a regular shower and bathtub which is impressive to me, the shower here comes as a spaceship.

Hotel Lisboa 013

More soaps are found in the spaceship which comes with )if I remember them correctly) 3 horizontal water spray nozzles, with different spray patterns, and a regular handheld shower head. There is also a speaker for radio and a fan for ventilation, though the radio was unfortunately not working in the spaceship.

Hotel Lisboa 014

On the other end of the spaceship is a foot massager with water jets too. The pillow at the bottom is indeed actually for your head, as the spaceship doubles up as a bathtub too, on top of a mega spraying capsule. It was easily one of the longest showers I have ever taken with figuring out all the different functions in the spaceship.

Overall, a rather pleasant stay in Hotel Lisboa with the upgrade to a higher floor and unexpected room amenities. In the end, my room did cost a bit more since I “donated” HK$200 to the Casino Lisboa the next morning, but oh well, all in the fun of Macau I guess, completing the gaming experience.
