Flight Review: Jetstar Asia 3K791 from Singapore to Okinawa (Naha) by Airbus A320-200

Jetstar Asia 3K791 from Singapore to Okinawa (Naha) Flight Review

Jetstar Asia 3K791 is a thrice-weekly flight from Singapore to Okinawa (Naha) departing on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I booked my ticket very early, the moment that Jetstar Asia announced that they were resuming flights to Okinawa. As 2 of my Okinawa flights were refunded thanks to the pandemic, this is still revenge travel for me as I have not been there before, and finally, the world is (almoast) back to normal again, and I can finally use my planned itinerary 3 years ago for this trip.

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4

Jetstar Asia now departs from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4. Access to Terminal 4 is by a free shuttle bus from the MRT station at Terminal 2. Do note that the Changi Airport Terminal 4 Shuttle Bus runs at a greatly reduced frequency of 31 minutes after midnight. You will want to get the bus before midnight to make it Terminal 4 in good time.

Jetstar Asia’s check-in is at Row 7.

Check-in

Heading to the Fast Check-in kiosks to get my boarding pass.

As I had already checked-in online for my flight, I just needed a reprint of my boarding pass which was quick enough.

My boarding pass for my Jetstar Asia 3K791 flight from Singapore to Okinawa (Naha). Interestingly, my gate was not printed on the boarding pass despite it being quite close to departure time already.

Immigration and Security Screening

Immigration and security screening follows.

On the departure screens after security screening, my gate is displayed as Gate G12. Not too far of a walk.

Departure Transit Lounge

Heading through Lotte Duty Free.

The departure transit lounge of Terminal 4.

As it was around midnight, there were just a couple of flights left for the day, and the terminal was rather quiet.

Heritage Zone

There are plenty of seats available at the Heritage Zone.

Some seats have power sockets, which I got my devices charged up for the night with.

The shophouses at the Heritage Zone are quite detailed, some furnished with traditional fittings.

The middle 2 shophouses are screens which plays Peranakan Love Story and Nanyang Blossom, played at every 15 minutes interval.

Gate G12

Gate G12 is just outside the Heritage Zone, so that’s convenient.

My flight details were already displayed at Gate G12 about 2 hours before departure.

Boarding

Boarding was done in zones. As I was seated all the way back at Row 29, I was in one of the first groups to board.

9V-JSQ will be flying me from Singapore to Okinawa. Finally, after more than 3 years.

The interior of 9V-JSQ with the slimmer seats, which I prefer over the cushier ones.

Hear me out.

With the slimmer seats, there is more legroom available.

More so with the seat pocket at the knees being moved to the rigid slot type at eye-level.

For an overnight red-eye flight, every inch matters.

My Jetstar Asia 3K791 flight departed from Singapore at 2.29am – 14 minutes delayed.

It was quite a full flight, so there was no chance of me getting a “flatbed” of 3 seats once the seat belt signs were switched off.

The clean toilet available on board Jetstar Asia. Paper towels are also provided, which is a plus.

Following the meal service for those who have pre-booked and for those who purchased theirs on board, the cabin lights were dimmed for the night/early morning. As it was a night flight, I didn’t book any ancillaries, hoping to get as much sleep as I could. With a basic seat back, it wasn’t easy to get any sleep, and I just drifted in and out of naps. Thankfully, I had a neck pillow on me, or else it would have been worse.

Approaching Okinawa as the day broke, the cabin crew handed out immigration cards and customs declaration forms. Do note that this is the old system if you do not use Visit Japan Web. If you have already filled out your details on Visit Japan Web, you do not need these forms.

Okinawa Naha Airport

My Jetstar Asia 3K791 flight landed at Okinawa (Naha) at 8.16am – 9 minutes early. The total flight time was 4 hours and 47 minutes.

Disembarking from the aircraft as one of the last passengers, since I was seated right at the back.

Immigration and Customs

The process starts off with a health screening where temperatures are taken when walking through the path.

Despite being one of the last to board, I still managed to beat many people to immigration as most went to the toilet upon disembarking. Some had also not filled up the immigration forms yet. I skipped quite a number of them with my Visit Japan Web QR codes all ready for scanning.

With no bags to pick up, I also headed straight through customs, which seems to be Visit Japan Web-only. A staff was checking for passengers with QR codes before sending us through. I was done with customs in about 20 seconds.

Exit

Once done, I was out and in Japan proper.

The arrival screen lists my flight as scheduled as 8.10am, and landed late at 8.25am, which were both slightly inaccurate. 8.25am is the arrival time for Thursday flights, with Sundays and Tuesdays landing at 8.10am. My flight had also landed at 8.16am, which was early.

The driveway at the international terminal was closed for renovations, and all passengers were pointed to the domestic terminal for onward access out of the airport.

A temporary sign is also put up pointing to all onward transport facilities at the domestic terminal.

Naha Airport Tourist Information Center [International]

Here, I headed to the Visitor Service Center first to buy my Okinawa Bus Pass for my public bus rides for the day.

Conclusion

It was a basic no-frills flight with Jetstar Asia, but it is exactly what I paid for to get to Okinawa for cheap. All I needed was a seat for this night flight, and baggage wasn’t an issue for me since I managed to pack amazingly just 2.96kg for this short trip to Japan. And with 2 refunded Okinawa flights during the pandemic, this third time is indeed the charm.
