Tanjong Pagar Railway Station was a railway station located in downtown Singapore along Keppel Road. It was first opened on 3 May 1932 as part of the new line from Bukit Timah to Tanjong Pagar via Tanglin and Alexandra. On 1 July 2011, in accordance with the Malaysia–Singapore Points of Agreement Supplement 2010, the station closed along with the rest of the Singapore railway south of Woodlands Train Checkpoint.
Tanjong Pagar Railway Station was used for passenger traffic only throughout its operational period, with freight trains either heading to the adjacent Kampong Bahru yard or the short-lived Keppel Terminal wharves branch before the AYE was built. Maintenance is done at Kampong Bahru yard for all trains.
Today, the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station is closed to facilitate its redevelopment into a multi-functional community space and Cantonment MRT Station which will run under the former platforms.

Concourse
The spacious concourse had a high ceiling and plenty of seating area. The ticket counter was the centerpiece of the concourse. The middle part of the seating area was taken up by the Tourism Malaysia kampung house about a year before the closure till the end.
Key Station Amenities
M. Hasan Railway Station Canteen
There was a canteen beside the headshunt on Platform 1, popular for its Nasi Lemak, Bandung, Nasi Ayam and Chapati, with an occasional Ramly Burger stall. At night, a seafood stall brings in the crowds to the car park behind. This canteen was an institution.
M. Hasan 2 Railway Food Station
There was also a canteen in the station hall, famous for its Nasi Briyani.
Kampong Kitchen
There was a small canteen on the Keppel Road side in the modern times just before the station’s closure.
Habib Railway Book Store
While started out as a book store, during the era just before the station closed, Habib Railway Book Store operated as a licensed money changer and sold packaged snacks and small Singapore souvenir items instead.
Kiriman Ekspres Office
An alternative to traditional postage, you could opt for Kiriman Ekspres overnight delivery to major railway stations in Malaysia. A parcel van was attached to Mail trains (defunct), and overnight trains. This service has since been rebranded to KTMD and offers faster services by ETS Kiriman Pantas or by road.

While having a similar name, Tanjong Pagar MRT Station was a 15-minute walk away. A bus transfer via bus services 80 or 145 was recommended.
