Genting Dream Cruise Surabaya Transfer Service B to Tunjungan Plaza by Bus

The first port of call of the 6 Day 5 Night Surabaya & North Bali Cruise on Resorts World Cruises’ Genting Dream is Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara for Surabaya. Shore excursions are available by Resorts World Cruises to explore the different ports of calls on destination cruises. For this trip, I had the privilege to have the Surabaya Transfer Service arranged for me by Resorts World Cruises.

Genting Dream Surabaya Shore Excursions

Surabaya Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara

The Genting Dream arrived at Surabaya Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara at about 8am Ship Time on Tuesday after departing from Singapore on Sunday at about 8pm. Genting Dream follows Ship Time (GMT+8) throughout the cruise, including on shore excursions. All timings provided in the cruise follows Ship Time. Be sure not to mix it up with Western Indonesia Time (WIB), which is GMT+7.

Indonesia Immigration is conducted on board in a separate office without the need for passengers to be physically present.

My shore excursion ticket for the Genting Dream Cruise Surabaya Transfer Service B to Tunjungan Plaza. The Surabaya Transfer Service to Tunjungan Plaza costs S$35.

This ticket must be handed over to the tour guide before boarding the bus.

The meeting time was at 10.15am Ship Time, after all the shore excursions had departed.

A sticker stapled behind the ticket is for identification which you need to paste in front of your shirt before entering the Zodiac Theatre for disembarkation.

Genting Dream Zodiac Theatre Meeting Point

For passengers who have booked shore excursions, the meeting point for Surabaya shore excursions was at Zodiac Theatre. However, check on your day of departure on the meeting point as this may be changed depending on the crowd.

Shore excursion passengers should match the number on your sticker with the lollipop sign placed in front of each row.

Once the bus number is called, follow the staff stationed along the route to the gangway. Tap your stateroom card at the checkpoint before heading off the ship.

Follow the signs to the arrival hall.

Heading down to the arrival hall via the escalators.

With no bags to reclaim on this day stopover, the baggage reclaim area was turned into some sort of market.

Once in the terminal, passengers for shore excursions were guided to seats before heading out of the terminal.

Heading through Indonesian Customs before exiting the terminal.

Customs is about trade facilitation and revenue enforcement, and does not mean “chop passport”. Immigration (“chop passport”) had already been completed on board automatically by immigration staff, without the presence of passengers.

There are a few buses waiting outside, but not for my group yet.

We were ushered to another shelter to wait for the bus.

A few minutes later, the bus showed up bearing the number 61 on all sides.

The tour guide collected everyone’s ticket at the bus door before boarding.

I got an extra legroom seat by the side of the rear door, with my legs dangling above the steps.

Despite being a transfer service, there was still a tour guide on board to welcome everyone to Surabaya.

My Genting Dream Cruise Surabaya Transfer Service B to Tunjungan Plaza departed from Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara at 11.10 Ship Time, which means the total time taken from meeting time at Zodiac Theatre to departing from Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara was 55 minutes.

The bus ride from Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara to Tunjungan Plaza took 26 minutes.

Tunjungan Plaza

The Genting Dream Cruise Surabaya Transfer Service B alights and picks up at Tunjungan Plaza TP4 SOGO.

Heading into SOGO Tunjungan Plaza.

Tunjungan Plaza (TP) is the second-largest shopping center in Indonesia after Pakuwon Mall (served by Surabaya Transfer Service A), consisting of 6 buildings, easily identified as TP 1, TP 2, TP 3, TP 4, TP 5, and TP 6.

The meeting time at SOGO Tunjungan Plaza for the trip back to the ship was at 3.30pm Ship Time (GMT+8).

There are passengers from other shore excursions visiting Tunjungan Plaza as their lunch stop as well, so it was more crowded with a lot more buses picking everyone up back to the ship.

Walking out to the bus once my number 61 had been called.

The same bus would be picking us up back to the ship.

Departing from Tunjungan Plaza in the rain at about 4pm Ship Time.

The bus ride from Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara to Tunjungan Plaza took 45 minutes due to a 20-minute traffic jam on approach to Terminal Penumpang Gapura Surya Nusantara, arriving at 4.45pm. Technically, the last boarding time back to Genting Dream was at 4.00pm.

However, as I had my transfer booked under Resorts World Cruises, I needn’t worry about already missing the ship’s last boarding time, as the Genting Dream will wait for her delayed directly-booked shore excursion passengers. You run the risk of missing your ship in the port traffic jam if you go out on your own tours or by Grab or Blue Bird taxi, especially if the directly-booked shore excursion passengers had already boarded the ship.

Heading back to the ship, it was a reverse route from this morning, with passengers boarding via the arrival hall as well.

The ship’s security screening was not used as everyone had cleared it in the terminal already.

Tap your stateroom card at the checkpoint before entering the ship.

Once in, take the lift up to wherever you want to go around the Genting Dream. Probably to your stateroom first to drop off your belongings and shopping.
