KTM JB Sentral Reopens On 1 July 2022

KTM Berhad has announced that Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) will reopen for Ekspres Rakyat Timuran and Ekspres Selatan passenger train services from Friday, 1 July 2022. This comes together with the announcement of train ticket sales opening through to December 2022, with sales starting from Friday, 27 May 2022 at 12.15am.

Since 23 November 2021, the KTM Ekspres Selatan and KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timuran had been truncated to Kempas Baru Railway Station to facilitate Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) works between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Works are being done on the sector between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station for the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) to pass through smoothly.

During this period, passengers heading to JB Sentral have to make their own way as there is no rail replacement alternative provided by KTM Berhad.

No announcement has been made by KTM Berhad for the reinstatement of Shuttle Tebrau yet. With the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) works between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station, trains are unable to pass this section. As such, the Shuttle Tebrau which is stabled in Kempas Baru Depot will not be able to operate during the closure.
