Temporary Suspension of KTM Train Services between JB Sentral and Kempas Baru

From 23 November 2021, the KTM Ekspres Selatan and KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timuran will be truncated to Kempas Baru Railway Station to facilitate Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) works between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station.

There will be no train services between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) will reopen for passenger services for the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran and Ekspres Selatan passenger train services from Friday, 1 July 2022.

There are currently no railway tracks between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station as of January 2022.

Works are being done on the sector between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station for the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) to pass through smoothly.

KTM Ekspres Selatan (Kempas Baru – Gemas – Kempas Baru)

The Ekspres Selatan will operate between Kempas Baru Railway Station and Gemas Railway Station only. The Ekspres Selatan will not serve JB Sentral in both bounds.

KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (Kempas Baru – Tumpat – Kempas Baru)

The Ekspres Rakyat Timuran will operate between Kempas Baru Railway Station and Tumpat Railway Station only. The Ekspres Rakyat Timuran will not serve JB Sentral in both bounds.

Alternative Transport between JB Sentral and Kempas Baru

KTM Berhad has not announced any alternative transport options for passengers departing from or arriving at JB Sentral.

There is no existing direct public transport between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station.

KTM Shuttle Tebrau (JB Sentral – Woodlands CIQ – JB Sentral)

With the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) works between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station, trains are unable to pass this section. As such, the Shuttle Tebrau which is stabled in Kempas Baru Depot will not be able to operate during the closure, even if Singapore and Maaysia borders were open.
