KTM Komuter Northern Sector (Komuter Utara) Accepting Touch ‘n Go Card Soon
KTM Komuter Northern Sector (Komuter Utara) appears to be accepting Touch ‘n Go Card soon. The KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) Automated Control Gates (ACG) at KTM Komuter Northern Sector train stations have been upgraded with a new card reader, similar to the ones already in use for the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector. While no confirmation has been posted by KTM Berhad yet, Touch ‘n Go logos can already be seen in front of the Automated Control Gates (ACG).
By extension, new Komuter Link cards would also most likely be accepted on the KTM Komuter Northern Sector (Komuter Utara) system.
Touch ‘n Go Lane at Butterworth Railway Station
KITS and Touch ‘n Go logos are pasted on the floor on the lane leading to the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) Automated Control Gates (ACG) at Butterworth Railway Station, calling it the KITS and Touch ‘n Go lane.
The card reader on the ACG is covered up with a piece of paper. A new sticker on the ACG also reads “TAP YOUR CARD” at the card reader.
Touch ‘n Go Lane at Ipoh Railway Station
Over at Ipoh Railway Station, the card reader on the ACG is not covered up, but the idle screen is shown instead.
The sticker on the floor also has the Touch ‘n Go, but covered up temporarily with a piece of A4 paper.
It is not known when Touch ‘n Go and Komuter Link cards will be accepted on the KTM Komuter Northern Sector (Komuter Utara) yet, but it should be in the near future since all hardware and even logos are already up in stations.
Touch ‘n Go Lane at Padang Besar Railway Station
At Padang Besar Railway Station, Touch ‘n Go logos are seen on the floor and on standing signs, and the card reader on the ACG is not covered up, but the idle screen is shown instead.
A new sign also displays the Touch ‘n Go logo as the new access mode, with 3 other logos being covered up.
Fare Evaders Beware
While ETS and KTM Komuter gates share the same Automated Control Gates (ACG), do not attempt to use a Touch ‘n Go and Komuter Link card to board an ETS train. Remember that all seats are reserved on board ETS trains with individual personal details, and conductors are present on all ETS trains, making it very easy to detect a passenger holding an invalid ticket. A surcharge of RM100 will apply on passengers who do not have a valid ticket on ETS trains.
