Bus Review: Kurnia Suria Express from Tampin Bus Terminal to JB Larkin Sentral by Bus

Kurnia Suria Express from Tampin Bus Terminal to JB Larkin Sentral Bus Review

Kurnia Suria Express is the only express bus company offering the Bahau – Tampin – JB Larkin Sentral bus route, offering better express bus connectivity for passengers travelling to and from Bahau and Tampin with Johor Bahru, in just slightly more than 3 hours between Tampin and Johor Bahru. Before this, passengers from Bahau had to take a 2-hour local bus to Seremban to catch express buses to other parts of Malaysia, and passengers from Tampin had to take a 2-hour local bus to Melaka Sentral to catch express buses to other parts of Malaysia.

This new bus route also connects Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral to the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector via Pulau Sebang Railway Station (Tampin Railway Station), a 15-minute walk away.

Tampin Bus Terminal

Kurnia Suria Express stops outside Tampin Bus Terminal along the road, without using the bus berths.

Tickets are checked by the driver upon boarding. The stop is quick, as Tampin is just an intermediate stop. The southbound bus originates from Bahau.

Do note that the Kurnia Suria Express bus fleet is small, with 2 Super VIP 30-seater buses and 1 regular 44-seater bus. Check the seat map when booking your bus ticket on Easybook or BusOnlineTicket to know which bus you will be getting.

A calf rest is also available, though it can’t be propped all the way up with the tighter legroom.

2 USB power sockets are available beside each seat.

It was quite an empty bus for a Friday afternoon, with just 3 other passengers on board. The return bus trip from JB to Tampin and Bahau on the same Friday evening, however, will be completely full.

My 3pm Kurnia Suria Express bus departed from Tampin Bus Terminal at 3.06pm – 6 minutes delayed.

Kurnia Suria Express goes via Kendong to get to the North-South Expressway, also colloquially known as PLUS Highway, to enter via Simpang Ampat.

Crossing the KTM train tracks at Taboh Naning.

Heading through the Simpang Ampat Toll Plaza on to the PLUS Highway.

226km to go to Johor Bahru.

My Kurnia Suria Express bus made a brief stop at BHPetrol R&R Pagoh Selatan, around the midpoint of the journey.

The toilets at BHPetrol R&R Pagoh Selatan are clean. This was a quick stop with just 4 passengers and the driver, and the bus departed as soon as everyone was done.

Heading down from the PLUS Highway to the Skudai Highway.

There was the usual evening traffic jam along the Skudai Highway when entering Johor Bahru.

Heading through the Jalan Datin Halimah Cloverleaf Interchange.

Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral

Entering Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal.

My Kurnia Suria Express bus arrived at Johor Bahru Larkin Sentral at 6.28pm, making this a journey of 3 hours and 12 minutes.

With a light passenger load, the Kurnia Suria Express bus departed from the arrival berth quite quickly.

The express bus arrival berths at Larkin Sentral are just beside the local bus berths on the same wing.

Conclusion

Kurnia Suria Express is a useful bus route offering new express bus connections from Bahau and Tampin without the need to detour to a bigger city. The journey takes just slightly more than 3 hours between Tampin and Johor Bahru, which saves lots of time compared with needing to first travel to a bigger city about 2 hours away before even starting the long-distance sector.
