Temporary Suspension of KTM Train Services between JB Sentral and Kempas Baru
This JB Sentral – Kempas Baru Public Transport Guide provides public transport travel alternatives for KTM Intercity train passengers for Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) by bus and e-Hailing.
From 23 November 2021, the KTM Ekspres Selatan and KTM Ekspres Rakyat Timuran will be truncated to Kempas Baru Railway Station to facilitate Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) works between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station.
There will be no train services between Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral) and Kempas Baru Railway Station from 23 November 2021.
Public Transport from JB Sentral to Kempas Baru
🇲🇾 Malaysian Passengers
Malaysian passengers are able to use the Bas Muafakat Johor network of free bus services in Johor. Malaysian passengers must register for the Kad Muafakat Johor here before using the Bas Muafakat Johor. The free Bas Muafakat Johor services are only available for Malaysian citizens who have a Kad Muafakat Johor.
From 1 January 2021 until 31 December 2021, Perbadanan Pengangkutan Awam Johor (PAJ) is giving free ride bus for Malaysian passengers without having to register for Kad Muafakat Johor. Malaysian passengers may tap the MyKad or an existing Kad Muafakat Johor to the bus card reader to enjoy free Bus Muafakat Johor rides.
Non-Malaysians are not allowed to use the Bas Muafakat Johor.
Step 1: Bas Muafakat Johor P-101

From Larkin Sentral, take Bas Muafakat Johor P-113 to Petronas Taman Kempas Baru. Do note the limited departures a day for Bas Muafakat Johor P-113. More information below.
- For 42up Ekspres Selatan departure at 7.23am: No available BMJ P-113 connection
- For 44up Ekspres Selatan departure at 10.00am: Estimated BMJ P-113 9.00am departure from Larkin Sentral
- For 46up Ekspres Selatan departure at 7.38pm: Estimated BMJ P-113 4.40pm departure from Larkin Sentral
- For 26up Ekspres Rakyat Timuran departure at 8.44pm: Estimated BMJ P-113 6.55pm departure from Larkin Sentral
Do note that almost all buses will not connect well with all trains due to estimated departure times and walking padding times.
Step 3: Walk
From Petronas Taman Kempas Baru, walk for about 900 meters (12 minutes) via Jalan Kempas Baru, Jalan Permatang 8, and Jalan Permatang Utama to Kempas Baru Railway Station.

Unfortunately there are no paid bus services to Kempas Baru, so e-Hailing or taxi is your only option if you do not have your own private transport.

Unfortunately there are no paid bus services to Kempas Baru, so an e-Hailing or taxi is your only option if you do not have your own private transport. You may want to consider catching an e-Hailing or taxi directly from JB Sentral to save the hassle of a bus transfer first followed by an e-Hailing or taxi ride later on anyway.
