Flight Review: Jetstar Asia 3K676 from Penang to Singapore by Airbus A320-200

Jetstar Asia 3K676 from Penang to Singapore Airbus A320 Flight Review

Heading back to Singapore after an accidental long 3 days of train rides and trainspotting in Kempas Baru, KL, Ipoh, and Penang, I flew back with Jetstar Asia 3K676 for the express route to Singapore. With the reverse Chinese New Year exodus crowd from Singapore, my fare was cheap at only RM63 all-in, and with some empty seats to boot.

Penang International Airport

I arrived at Penang International Airport by Rapid Penang Bus 401E as there was a ridiculous fare surge on all e-hailing apps. Thankfully, there wasn’t much traffic jams along the way so I was still in time for check-in.

Even though I had already checked in online, Jetstar Asia required me to collect my boarding pass only at the airport counter, and I could not print my boarding pass at home for a speedier entry direct to the gate.

Heading to the check-in desks.

My Jetstar Asia 3K676 will be checking in at counters 43-46, and departing from Gate A6.

Check-in

The long line of check-in counters at Penang International Airport, separated into airlines’ sections.

Jetstar Asia’s counters can be easily spotted with the orange signs around. And thankfully, not much queue today.

Security Screening & Immigration

Next up, immigration.

There wasn’t much queues here either, and I was through immigration and security screening in about 5 minutes.

The departure transit area of Penang International Airport. The area is simple, with a linear design and path throughout.

There are some usual airport duty-free shops.

There is also a Delicacies of Penang souvenir shop for last-minute Penang snacks and souvenirs to purchase.

The departure screen showed my Jetstar Asia 3K676 flight as “calling”.

Gate A6

However, my plane still had not arrived from Singapore.

Gate A6 is located in the newly renovated area at the end of the terminal, with a brighter interior, some seats, and an extra toilet in front of the gate.

My plane only arrived at the gate at 4.45pm, as Jetstar Asia 3K675 from Singapore. This flight had gone around Penang Airport for another approach, which caused the delay.

Jetstar Asia 3K675 disembarked with quite a high load of passengers.

Boarding

Boarding for my Jetstar Asia 3K676 flight only commenced at 5.10pm, 5 minutes before scheduled departure.

I had an empty row to myself at seat 28F.

A tray table is available on the seat back in front.

Some seats aren’t so lucky, just like 2 seats away at 28D.

My Jetstar Asia 3K676 flight was not completely full, with most passengers congregated around the middle of the aircraft.

I had my own private area at the back of the plane with 3 empty rows.

My aircraft pushed back from the gate at 5.28pm.

Turning to Runway 22.

My Jetstar Asia 3K676 flight departed from Penang Airport at 5.38pm – 23 minutes delayed.

Sitting on the right side of the plane got me the sun.

It was an uneventful flight since it was short, and I didn’t need to purchase any meals or duty-free, since I was landing already.

The clean toilet available on board Jetstar Asia.

Paper towels are also provided, which is a plus.

Cruising along at 35,000 feet.

It was a little bit bumpy when descending as the skies were quite cloudy.

Flying over the Muar River.

The flight path felt weird, flying away from Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

Flying around Karimunbesar Island in Indonesia.

There were some zig-zagging around in Indonesia as the sun set.

Finally catching a glimpse of Singapore when landing after the zig-zags.

Zooming in on Sentosa.

Zooming in on the Singapore downtown skyline.

Flying past lots of ships anchored in Singapore.

Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4

My Jetstar Asia 3K676 landed in Singapore at 6.40pm – 10 minutes delayed.

My aircraft docked at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 Gate G10, the best arrival gate ever.

Heading up the aerobridge.

Immigration & Customs

Gate G10 is directly located at the escalator down to immigration.

As I wanted to get dinner before going home, I took the Changi Airport Terminal 4 Shuttle Bus from the arrival hall at Terminal 4 to Jewel Changi Airport.

Conclusion

It was a basic no-frills flight with Jetstar Asia, which became a premium with my low fares and empty seats around me. All I needed was a seat for this flight, and baggage wasn’t an issue for me since I was travelling extremely light.

  1. This plane, together with 9V-JSY, retained Scoot’s interior as it was formerly used by Scoot.
