Hello, New Tumpat Railway Station!
I was surprised to see the completed new Tumpat Railway Station when I visited in February 2024. This was surprising as the new station is finally completed after many years of construction, no official announcement of the opening was made by KTM Berhad, and I didn’t see any other railway fan posting about the reopened station yet. Here’s all the new facilities available in the new Tumpat Railway Station.
New Tumpat Railway Station

The site of the new Tumpat Railway Station is on the same site as the old Tumpat Railway Station.

While the concourse remains in the middle of the station length, access is not by the middle of the station.

Instead, the new entrance is to the north of the new station building, by the new car park.

There are steps and a ramp up to the new Tumpat Railway Station.

With the new main entrance on the side, there is also direct access to Platform 1 where most trains depart from.

There is also a passageway on the road side.

While it’s a simple station building structure, wayfinding signs are available.

There is a small waiting area in front of the ticket counter.

The ticket counter has a regular height, and a shorter counter to serve OKUs.

More seats are available on the platform.

While Platform 2 opened first, the completion of Platform 1 now makes Tumpat Railway Station look proper with a balanced platform and roof structure.

The main station signs have also been updated to feature both Bahasa Malaysia and Jawi texts.

Toilets are available on Platform 1.

Suraus are available on Platform 1.

The upgrades are a bit too good in my opinion, with an unnecessary high overhead bridge across the tracks when there is a level crossing at the end of the platforms. A simple step down from Platform 2 would suffice. Unfortunately, there is also no such alternative.

Tumpat Depot still remains more or less the same, with some additional lines and the future turntable still under construction.
