Okinawa Bus 39 is 1 of 2 parallel bus routes from Naha Bus Terminal to Yonabaru. Yonabaru is a small town easily missed by tourists, but alas, there was the Yonabaru Railway Museum which requires a visit. For my first stop in Okinawa, I headed to Yonabaru Railway Museum by bus.

There is a waiting lounge in Naha Bus Terminal where there is an information counter along with a departure screen for all upcoming buses.

Toyo Bus 37 to Yonabaru and Nanjo City Hall will be departing from Platform 7.

Okinawa Bus 39 to Yonabaru and Nanjo City Hall will be departing from Platform 6.

I took Okinawa Bus 39 as it will be departing first.

At 10.17am, the 10.20am Okinawa Bus 39 had arrived at Platform 6.

Okinawa Bus 39 is fully covered by the Okinawa Bus Pass.

My Okinawa Bus 39 departed on time at 10.20am.

Okinawa Bus 39 goes via Kainan first and then via Japan National Route 329 for a straight route to Yonabaru. It’s a local route with local brands, but with globalisation, they all look very familiar.

The bus first makes a stop at Yonabaru. While this is the main Yonabaru bus stop and passengers will alight and board here, this is not the nearest bus stop to the Yonabaru Railway Museum.

Instead, take it 1 more stop.

Press the bell after passing by the Yonabaru junction and this iconic Hot Grills izakaya.

Yonabaru Town Hall Entrance (Yonabaru Cho Yakuba-iriguchi)

Yonabaru Town Hall Entrance (Yonabaru Cho Yakuba-iriguchi) is the closest bus stop to Yonabaru Railway Museum.

To alight, I simply flashed my Okinawa Bus Pass to the driver.

If paying by cash, check the fare displayed on the screen above and drop the fare and numbered ticket into the coin box.

The bus fare from Naha Bus Terminal to Yonabaru costs ¥440.

Follow the signs to the Yonabaru Light Railway Station Building.

Yonabaru Railway Museum

The Yonabaru Light Railway Station Building or Yonabaru Railway Museum can be seen from the junction to cross the street.
