Perbadanan Pengangkutan Awam Johor (PAJ) Shuttle Bus Service to Woodlands Checkpoint

Perbadanan Pengangkutan Awam Johor (PAJ) has been running a shuttle bus service between Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru and Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore for Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) travellers since 20 August 2020.

Initially, the free shuttle bus service launched on 17 August 2020, along with the launch of the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) schemes, between Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru and the border of Malaysia and Singapore only, without physically entering Singapore, but was later allowed to enter Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore and make a U-turn in Singapore since 20 August 2020. This shuttle bus service was free of charge since 17 August 2020 till 31 December 2020.

From 1 January 2021, the PAJ Shuttle Bus Service between Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru and Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore will run 11 trips a day, with fares to be charged according to the rate set by Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD).

While no fare rates have officially been announced, a safe reference would be to use CW1 bus fares which would be S$1/RM3 from Woodlands Checkpoint and RM1.50 from Bangunan Sultan Iskandar.

This PAJ Shuttle Bus Service between Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru and Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore is a unique cross-border shuttle as PAJ buses do not have any international routes, and only serves special eligible passengers on an empty border crossing which was once one of the world’s busiest international land border crossings.

From Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru, the PAJ Shuttle Bus departs from 7.30am to 6.30pm, departing at every 30th minute of the hour, except for 1.30pm which is the driver’s lunch break.

From Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore, the PAJ Shuttle Bus also departs from 7.30am to 6.30pm, picking up immediately after arriving from Malaysia and departing back to Malaysia immediately. As such, the bus realistically departs at around every 40th minute of the hour, except for 1.40pm which is the driver’s lunch break. However, you should standby for the bus early, as it picks up and departs immediately from Woodlands Checkpoint, Singapore.
