ScotRail Shotts Line Train from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Central via Shotts
National Rail offers a Rail & Sail to Belfast and Ireland Ordinary Promotion ticket which is an all in one ticket for rail from any Scottish station, coach link between Ayr and Cairnryan, and ferry travel to Belfast (via Cairnryan) with Stena Line. Regular 26-30 Railcard concessions apply on this ticket, offering a 34% discount off adult fare, which is perfect for me to head to Belfast from Edinburgh by train, bus, and ferry, all in a single train ticket.
The first leg of my Rail & Sail to Belfast and Ireland journey would be by ScotRail Shotts Line 2Y67 from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central. Despite being a slower train, I chose this for the terminal of Glasgow Central as it would be the same Glasgow station to catch my next train to Ayr, as compared to if I had taken a faster ScotRail Express train to Glasgow Queen Street which would require me to walk to Glasgow Central. This would also allow me to clear joyriding on the Shotts Line.
