Singapore Airlines Launches S$50 A380 Dining Experience!

Restaurant A380 @Changi

As you might have realised, I like flying as much as I like getting to my destination. While getting to my overseas destination is rather impossible now without repercussions, there seems to be a good alternative now with Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines will be creating the Restaurant A380 @Changi dining experience – which, if you haven’t guessed it, would be having the Airbus A380 operate as a restaurant over at Changi Airport.

There are 3 classes of Restaurant A380 @Changi experiences here on RailTravel Station.

There are also fringe activities for Restaurant A380 @Changi diners.

Pre-Dining Activities

On top of actually having a meal, there would be a series of activities pre-departure. A heritage showcase features Singapore Airlines cabin crew uniforms through the years, and it seems if you participate in the dining experience with traditional heritage wear such as sarong kebaya, cheongsam, saree, batik shirt, or kilt, you get a special gift from SQ.

Touted as a “pre-dining restaurant tour”, there seems to be a tour of the Airbus A380 itself with limited participants, including a behind-the-scenes look at private access areas.

Restaurant A380 @Changi Dining Experience

From Singapore Airlines’ description on their Restaurant A380 @Changi webpage, there would most likely be two choices of meals – International or Peranakan, designed by Singaporean chef Shermay Lee, with two alcoholic drinks and a free flow of other beverages included.

Just like a regular A380 flight, 4 cabin classes are available for booking on the Restaurant A380 @Changi, Economy Class, Premium Economy Class, Business Class, and Suites. All the prices seem like a great deal – you can’t even book Suites to fly now during this COVID era even if you have all the money in the world (well maybe if you had all the money in the world you could then).

And a lead-in fare of $50 (before GST) for a flight experience to nowhere after months of not stepping foot in a plane? Sign me up!

You also get to watch a movie while you dine, just like an actual flight, as KrisWorld will be switched on during this grounded flight.

Post-Meal Shopping

Each participant will also receive exclusive discounts online on KrisShop, their “shopping gallery” which I will hopefully find out what it is if I manage to get a slot, and limited edition souvenirs during the visit.

Restaurant A380 @Changi “Flight” Schedule

The Restaurant A380 @Changi would only “fly” on two dates, 24 and 25 October 2020, and will be available to book on from 12 October 2020.

Two additional dates, 31 October 2020 and 01 November 2020, along with additional dinner seatings on all dates, were added once bookings were closed to cater to the overwhelming demand.

Booking the Restaurant A380 @Changi Experience
