Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber Line • Cross-Harbour Cable Car Line linking Mount Faber, HarbourFront and Sentosa Island

The Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber Line is the first aerial ropeway system in the world to span a harbour in 1974, and was upgraded in 2010 with the key noticeable differences being the raising of the Sentosa Tower 2 by 30 meters (now 88 meters above sea level) and new bigger cabins which fit 8 people instead of 6. Spanning 1.65km between Mount Faber and Sentosa stations, it is the only “public” transport link to Mount Faber aside from walking, driving or getting a cab. Most passengers use the line for sightseeing purposes especially for the scenic view across the harbour.

The Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber Line serves 3 stations, namely, Mount Faber Station, HarbourFront Station and Sentosa Station.

Sentosa Station to HarbourFront Station

Sentosa Station is located on Imbiah Lookout, accessible by the set of escalators from Imbiah Station on the Sentosa Express or Imbiah Lookout Station on the Singapore Cable Car Sentosa Line or the Sentosa Bus A.

The entrance to the boarding area seems like an after-thought though, with the compulsory walk past the souvenir shop.

What used to possibly be an information screen is now a stick-on advertisement panel. Also, as the cabin gets rather hot during the day, additional fans are installed.

Sentosa Station is located on Imbiah Lookout. From here, you can access Imbiah Station on the Sentosa Express via the set of escalators, Imbiah Lookout Station on the Singapore Cable Car Sentosa Line or the Sentosa Bus A.

Overall, the Sentosa Cable Car Mount Faber Line offers a and scenic but hot and humid mode of transport to Sentosa Island. As the cable cars are non-air-conditioned, combined with Singapore’s heat, the cable car gets hot pretty easily. It may not be a good idea to stay on board for a complete round. If you’re heading to Mount Faber, this might be your only option if you’re not planning to drive or take a taxi though.
