The Train to Batu Caves

For just RM2, you could get to Batu Caves in the easiest and most comfortable way possible. The KTM Komuter extends its coverage into the suburbs of Selangor and even Negeri Sembilan including Kajang, Seremban, Subang, Klang, Rawang and Tanjung Malim. You could board the train from any station in the network, but we will take KL Sentral as reference for this post.

KL Sentral

KL Sentral is the transport hub of Kuala Lumpur where you can access almost anywhere in the city including KLCC where the Petronas Twin Towers stand, Bukit Bintang, Midvalley and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This station is also served by the KTM Komuter in which one of the lines terminate at Batu Caves.

Batu Caves Ticket

You may purchase your ticket from the KTM Komuter counter, and then head downstairs for your train.

Train to Batu Caves

Trains usually arrive on time with less than 10 minutes of delay. They run at a frequency of 15 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

SCS Interior

The journey will take approximately 30 minutes so make yourself comfortable in the train. Power sockets are even provided below each pair of seats.

Batu Caves Station

The train will arrive just outside Batu Caves.

Batu Caves

A few steps away from the station and you will arrive at the foot of the famous 272 steps of Batu Caves which you can climb and access the various Hindu temples within the caves. Batu Caves is extremely crowded during Thaipusam with Hindus heading there for pilgrimages. There are even bazaars lining up the streets all through the day and night.

I would suggest buying a return ticket at your origin or immediately purchasing a ticket back upon arrival at Batu Caves as the queue may get long during peak periods and you wouldn’t want to wait 30 minutes for the next train. Keeping in mind the various destinations that KTM Komuter offers, you may purchase your tickets from Batu Caves to anywhere in the system. Do note that you will have to change trains if you are heading towards Rawang & Tanjung Malim or Seremban & Sungai Gadut. I would advise changing at Putra should you be heading to Rawang and at Kuala Lumpur if you are heading to Seremban & Sungai Gadut.
