Edinburgh Trams from St Andrew Square to Ingliston Park & Ride

Edinburgh Trams is a tramway located in Edinburgh, Scotland, currently operating as a single line between St Andrew Square in the city and Edinburgh Airport, with 15 stops. With my Edinburgh PlusBus, the day ticket is valid for travel between St Andrew Square and Ingliston Park & Ride, excluding Edinburgh Airport. As such, I used it as a joyride on Edinburgh Trams.

With my Edinburgh PlusBus day ticket, I could board the Edinburgh Trams tram immediately.

For those without the cheap Edinburgh PlusBus day ticket, regular Edinburgh Trams tickets are available from the ticket machine at the tram stop.

A regular Adult DAYticket costs £4.50 which is valid for unlimited travel on Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses within the city zone.

A regular Adult Single costs £1.80 which is valid for 1 trip on Edinburgh Trams within the city zone.

A regular Adult Network DAYticket costs £10.00 which is valid for unlimited travel on Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses in all zones including Airport, Lothian services NightBus and NightHawk.

A regular Adult Airport Single costs £6.50 which is valid for 1 trip on Edinburgh Trams in all zones including Airport.

For those using smartcards, validate your card at the readers on the platform before boarding the tram.

Tickets are checked by the on-board conductor almost immediately after boarding.

Edinburgh Airport can be seen from the tram here, but unfortunately, my Edinburgh PlusBus day ticket won’t be valid for the Airport Zone.

Ingliston Park & Ride

The tram journey from St Andrew Square to Ingliston Park & Ride took 31 minutes.

The tram will continue on to Edinburgh Airport, where it terminates.

The path leads directly to the Ingliston Park & Ride car park.

Bus services also connect Ingliston Park & Ride to onward destinations.

There is a small covered service area in Ingliston Park & Ride.

Inside, Edinburgh Trams tickets, toilets, and vending machines are available.

Conclusion

Edinburgh Trams offers a speedy public transport connection if heading west out of Edinburgh towards Edinburgh Park, Gyle Centre, or Ingliston, with its dedicated track after Haymarket, skipping the traffic jams. The fare structure is also almost the same as Lothian Buses, with some tickets even valid for both systems. With the Edinburgh PlusBus day ticket, travel is also easy by simply flashing the ticket to the conductor, and cheaper than regular tram tickets.
