KTM Komuter Train Accident with Trespassers Causes Delays, 1 Dead

KTM Komuter services faced significant disruptions in the morning of 28 January 2025 after a train collided with 5 individuals who had trespassed onto railway tracks. The incident occurred at KM 34.734 between Teluk Pulai and Klang stations involving KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2110up which had departed from Jalan Kastam Station at 6.39am with 200 passengers on board. The collision forced the train to halt, leading to delays of over 60 minutes.

Passengers were safely escorted to Klang Station by KTMB staff and Auxiliary Police, where KTM Komuter Pelabuhan Klang Line Shuttle Bus 3 was used to transport them to Subang Jaya Station to continue their journeys.

The affected train operating on KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2110up sustained damage, prompting KTMB to deploy a rescue locomotive to remove the train from the tracks. The collision resulted in the death of one trespasser at the scene, while 4 others sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

In a statement, KTMB Chief Operating Officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha reiterated the dangers of trespassing on railway tracks, which are classified as restricted areas. Trespassers can face fines of up to RM500 under Section 126 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, and/or may face injury or death if hit by a train.

KTMB confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing, and further updates will be shared through their official social media platforms.
