Shuttle Tebrau 91dn Train from JB Sentral to Woodlands CIQ (Connection from Kuala Lipis DMU)
Arriving from Ekspres Selatan 45dn at JB Sentral 14 minutes late, my connecting Shuttle Tebrau 91dn onwards to Woodlands Train Checkpoint (Woodlands CIQ) was already waiting at Platform 3, and I had just 6 minutes to scan through the Automated Control Gate (ACG) to check-in for the Shuttle Tebrau 91dn and clear Malaysia immigration and customs. As such, it was a sprinting transfer for me at Gemas Railway Station from Shuttle Timuran 35dn from Kuala Lipis to Ekspres Selatan 45dn to JB Sentral.
Johor Bahru Sentral Railway Station (JB Sentral)
My onwards Shuttle Tebrau 91dn was just beside my incoming Ekspres Selatan 45dn. Crossing the tracks is not an option.
Heading up the escalators.
Turning right to Gate A immediately after ascending up to the concourse.
I had just 2 minutes to spare before the Shuttle Tebrau Automated Control Gate (ACG) locked. That was a close shave.
Heading through the Shuttle Tebrau Automated Control Gate (ACG) with my passport.
Heading down the escalator for Malaysia immigration and customs.
Once done with Malaysia immigration and customs, the door had already opened for boarding and everyone in the waiting room had went down already.
Looks familiar. It was just 2 minutes ago that I was here.
Heading down to the platform.
23 Class Locomotive 23101 Amanah is on duty for my Shuttle Tebrau 91dn on the southern end, the final leg of my train marathon trip from Kuala Lipis to Singapore with Shuttle Timuran 35dn and Ekspres Selatan 45dn.
Looking back at my Ekspres Selatan 45dn which was just beside.
As I was one of the last passengers to board Shuttle Tebrau 91dn, the coaches were all filled with passengers already, and only standing spaces remained.
My Shuttle Tebrau 91dn departed from JB Sentral at 8.13pm – 2 minutes before time.
Goodbye Ekspres Selatan 45dn and Ekspres Rakyat Timuran 26up.
Slowing down after the JB Sentral platforms.
My Shuttle Tebrau 91dn stopped just outside the JB Sentral platforms.
Looks like the point had not been set for my Shuttle Tebrau 91dn as a trackside staff came by to crank the point to the correct line.
As the Shuttle Tebrau operated with 2 rakes during the evening of my journey, the tracks had to be changed every time each rake entered on a different line.
It was a good thing that the driver of my Shuttle Tebrau 91dn was alert to the wrong track being set from afar, especially when there is no signalling from Kempas Baru to Woodlands CIQ to help, otherwise this might have been a disaster.
Departing through the point once it had been set correctly.
Heading on to the Johor-Singapore Causeway.
Don’t be fooled by the lack of vehicles on the Johor-Singapore Causeway. Everyone is stuck behind before entering the checkpoint or in the human queues at the bus immigration hall and boarding berths.
Crossing the Malaysia-Singapore international border.
There’s the slight jam.
Heading in to Woodlands Train Checkpoint (Woodlands CIQ).
Woodlands Train Checkpoint (Woodlands CIQ)
My Shuttle Tebrau 91dn arrived at Woodlands Train Checkpoint (Woodlands CIQ) at 8.25pm – 5 minutes delayed from schedule. This delay south of JB Sentral also makes this trip my longest Shuttle Tebrau journey with a total time of 12 minutes from JB Sentral to Woodlands CIQ, with the bulk of the travelling time waiting for the wrongly-set point to be hand cranked.
8 hours and 5 minutes after departing from Kuala Lipis with Shuttle Timuran 35dn, I am finally in Singapore.
