Ekspres Selatan 45dn is the overnight KTM Intercity train from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) to Johor Bahru Sentral, departing at 9.05pm. Continuing on down south, I got on this night KTM Intercity train after transferring from the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2053dn from KL Sentral.

Heading back into Pulau Sebang (Tampin) Railway Station after having my dinner.
There seems to be a free on-demand shuttle from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) Railway Station to A’Famosa Resort now too.
For the short Pulau Sebang (Tampin) to Gemas sector, you can usually buy your ticket on the spot with no problems as Ekspres Selatan trains only fill up from Gemas or Segamat onwards.
The manual side gate opens for Ekspres Selatan when the train is ready for boarding.
My ticket for the Ekspres Selatan 45dn ride from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) to JB Sentral. I had originally booked the ride for the full journey, but I decided that arriving in JB Sentral at 2.33am after a night time journey in darkness on a seat wasn’t such a good idea after all and questioned myself on why I had decided to do it in the first place. Hence, I got off at Gemas instead.
A sign on the ticket counter states the last day of operations for the old Paloh Railway Station.
Heading on to the linkbridge to get to my platform.
Heading to Platform 4.
Heading down the staircase to Platform 4.
26115 Tanjung Rhu heads the Ekspres Selatan 45dn from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) to JB Sentral. Looks like she has just gotten a fresh coat of paint.

Heading to the passenger coaches to board my Ekspres Selatan 45dn train.

Please mind the platform gap.
The interior of the ASC (Hyundai-Padu Sedia) coach.
My booked seat at Seat 15A. Can you guess why I booked this seat already?
On top of an immense amount of legroom, I also get a personal power socket*. This is a trade-off with a terrible window view, but it’s not like I could see anything for this night journey anyway.
*Only newer batches of ASC (Hyundai-Padu Sedia) coaches have a power socket beside Seats 1D and 15A.

At 8.55pm, the last Batu Caves-bound KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2080up train of the day departs from Pulau Sebang (Tampin).
At 9.05pm, my Ekspres Selatan 45dn train departs from Pulau Sebang (Tampin) on time.
Making a brief stop at Batang Melaka with no passenger activity.
Passing by the old Gemas Railway Station.
Arrived at Gemas Railway Station on time.
Passengers for JB Sentral and all stations in between board the Ekspres Selatan 45dn at Gemas.

Crossing the linkbridge to the exit.
Heading out of the passenger area through the side gate.
The empty waiting area at Gemas Railway Station.
Heading out of Gemas Railway Station.
Gemas Railway Station is rather quiet now that the last southbound train of the day had departed.
Taking the footpath out of the station.
The facade of Gemas Railway Station at night.
The old Gemas Railway Station is a hive of activity though, with mamaks serving up cooked food and a football matched being screened on a projector.
Here, I walked on to check-in to my hotel for the night.
Overall, a good short hop on the Ekspres Selatan 45dn though it’s pretty expensive now that the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector no longer serves Batang Melaka and Gemas, and the PLC part of the CMB ticket remains constant regardless of journey distance. Also, I did pay for a full RM25 fare to JB Sentral. Oh well, I’ll just treat it as donation to KTM to help out their finances.
