Hotel Review: Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru Double Room (2022)

Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru

Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru was where I decided to stay the night for my JB VTL trip to remind myself of the good old days of budget travels around Malaysia. My double room was quite affordable at RM68 after a 20% discount with the 2021 Cuti Lokal promotion, and with the low price, it was fine for me to stay out of the city.

Thanks Tune for your continuous discounts on both of my Malaysia VTL trips for KL and JB. 👍

A sign of the times, the AirAsia Sales Office at Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru is now closed.

Check-in was quick and simple with my prepaid online booking.

There’s a standing counter with a desktop computer on it for public use, along with a wall of clocks with times from around the world. Looks like there was once lots more computers with the presence of power sockets below the standing counter.

A hot and cold water dispenser is available at the lobby too.

2 elevators serve Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru.

My room was located on Level 5.

Heading into my booked Double Room.

Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru Double Room

My first look of the Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru Double Room.

Tune Hotels in Malaysia no longer offer separate rates for each frill – all rates are now inclusive of all facilities provided in the room, along with toiletries and basic amenities.

Slotting in my key card, the aircon is now activated without a time limit.

The Double Room consists of a Queen-sized King Koil bed.

The room is nice and compact which I like, so less footsteps are needed to reach my bag or the toilet. A large mirror is placed behind the bed to make the room look bigger.

While air-conditioning is now included in the room rate, the basic ceiling fan is still provided, which cools down the room really efficiently.

A rotating table is provided by the side wall, flipping out so that you can use the bed as a seat to do your work on it with a laptop. A 3-pin power socket is located by the rotating table.

Hangers are provided on a standing pole with the rotating table, functioning as an open wardrobe to hang clothes on.

Bath towels are provided on the bed.

A universal power socket is available beside the bed, along with the TV remote.

2 bottles of drinking water are also provided in the room, along with an in-room safe.

My Double Room comes with a view of the wetlands at Danga Bay in Malaysia and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve in Singapore.

The air is very fresh and crisp here at Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru. I can understand why people could survive with just a fan and an open window at Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru at the most basic room rate rate without aircon in the past. It’s like being in Genting when there’s rain and wind.

The toilet door has the Tune Hotels branding on it. Do note that there is no lock on the glass door.

The toilet is compact with all necessary toiletries provided, including a bathroom mat.

A big sink is provided with good flowing water.

Soaps are provided on the sink. A bottle of shampoo and 2 bars of soap are provided.

The hairdryer is also now inclusive and can be used without any additional charge.

True to its original selling point, a power shower is provided with excellent water pressure.

A true sign of corona times, no advertisements were placed in my toilet.

Pro-tip: Try to request for a room facing the shop lots and the wetlands if possible, as on the other side, you will be facing the Danga Bay Interchange which can get busy at peak hours, and you will get lots of traffic sounds in your room.

Overall, a pleasant stay with Tune Hotels once again at Tune Hotel Danga Bay Johor Bahru. With a simple stay with basic necessary frills provided at a low price, things always go to plan.
