MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 Guide for High Frequency Connections to Kuala Lumpur

MRT Putrajaya Line (PY Line) Phase 1

The first phase of the MRT Putrajaya Line (PY Line) has opened on 16 June 2022. 12 stations are on the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 from Kwasa Damansara MRT Station to Kampung Batu MRT Station. Kampung Batu MRT Station is the closest to Kuala Lumpur city centre, but not reaching down enough just yet. I have created a simple guide below on how to connect further to the LRT Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines from the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 as an interim solution.

The first phase of the MRT Putrajaya Line (PY Line) was originally supposed to open in August 2021, as announced by MRT Corp on 18 May 2021.

In conjunction with the opening of MRT Putrajaya Line (PY Line) Phase 1, there were Free Rapid KL Travel on MRT, LRT, BRT, Monorail & Buses and Free KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector Travel offered from 16 June 2022 for 1 month.

You might have noticed that Kampung Batu MRT Station is the closest to Kuala Lumpur city centre, but not reaching down enough just yet. I have created a simple guide below on how to connect further to the LRT Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines from the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 as an interim solution.

Western End of MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1

  • Take the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 to Kwasa Damansara.
  • Change to the MRT Kajang Line.

Eastern End of MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1

  • Take the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 to Kampung Batu.
  • Change to the free GoKL Maroon Line bus service towards Sentul LRT Station.
  • Change to the LRT Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines.

OR

  • Take the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 to Kampung Batu.
  • NEW: Change to Rapid KL Bus Service 173 from the new bus stop directly at Kampung Batu MRT Station to Lebuh Ampang (Masjid Jamek) via Batu 3 Jalan Ipoh, Chow Kit, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman

OR

  • Take the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 1 to Kampung Batu.
  • Change to one of the following bus services along Jalan Ipoh:
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 100 to Hab Medan Pasar
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 103 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 104 to Hab Medan Pasar (LPB)
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 107 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 120 to Hab Medan Pasar (LPB)
    • Selangor Omnibus Bus Service 122 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Setara Jaya (SJ Bus) Bus Service 150 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Setara Jaya (SJ Bus) Bus Service 151 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Setara Jaya (SJ Bus) Bus Service 152 to Hab Lebuh Pudu
    • Rapid KL Bus Service 173 to Lebuh Ampang
  • All the abovementioned buses passes through Batu 3 Jalan Ipoh, Chow Kit, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, and terminates around the Masjid Jamek area of Hab Medan Pasar, Hab Lebuh Pudu, or Lebuh Ampang. If you are heading to around this area, simply flag down the first bus you see and hop on.

MRT Putrajaya Line Future

The second phase from Kampung Batu MRT Station to Putrajaya Sentral MRT Station will open in January 2023, allowing trains to run the entire PY Line alignment to Kentonmen, Jalan Ipoh, Sentul Barat, Titiwangsa, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Raja Uda, Ampang Park, Persiaran KLCC, Conlay, Tun Razak Exchange, Chan Sow Lin, Kuchai, Taman Naga Emas, Sungai Besi, Serdang Raya Utara, Serdang Raya Selatan, Serdang Jaya, UPM, Taman Equine, Putra Permai, 16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara, Cyberjaya City Centre, and Putrajaya Sentral.

The MRT Putrajaya Line (PY Line) was previously known as the MRT Sungai Buloh–Serdang–Putrajaya Line (SSP Line).
