KTM Komuter Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle 2156up from Klang to Abdullah Hukum by Train

KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up from Klang to Abdullah Hukum

KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) was a shortworking trip on the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang Line operating from Klang to Abdullah Hukum during peak hours.

The Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle runs largely empty on weekday afternoons, as its main function is to send the train down to Abdullah Hukum to pick passengers knocking off from work in KL back to residential areas along the Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang Line towards Klang.

These shortworking trips were implemented due to the single-track sector during KVDT works between KL Sentral and Petaling, which limits trains from operating at a higher frequency. Abdullah Hukum has an additional Platform 3 which acts as a siding on this temporary single-track sector, adding a bit of available slots on the single-track line, thus allowing passengers from KL coming in via the LRT Kelana Jaya Line to change to the Abdullah Hukum-Klang Shuttle towards Klang at a slightly higher frequency than KL Sentral. This can be done at either Abdullah Hukum or Subang Jaya.

The Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle no longer operates in the latest timetable effective 15 January 2022 with the reinstatement of the double track line between KL Sentral and Petaling, allowing KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang Line trains to serve KL Sentral smoothly and more frequently without a critical choke point.

Klang Railway Station

Arriving from the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2154up from Pelabuhan Klang at Klang Railway Station Platform 3, it was a cross-platform transfer to the waiting 83 Class EMU24 at Platform 2 for my next and final KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) train ride.

Being early for the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle), the doors had not opened.

Klang Railway Station has curved platforms.

As such, do look out for the big platform gap at concave parts in the middle of the coach.

The livery of 83 Class EMU24 had seen better days.

Passengers coming in from Klang Railway Station have to cross the overhead bridge to access Platforms 2 or 3 for trains towards KL.

About 10 minutes before departure, the train destination changed to Abdullah Hukum, and the KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) was ready for boarding.

Doors were opened for passengers to board, though not all passengers decided to board after knowing that this KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) train will not go to KL Sentral.

Hmm, depending on your final destination I guess.

I would still change to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line at Abdullah Hukum to save time to get to KL Sentral, although this would mean paying an additional LRT fare rather than continuing on the KTM Komuter fare. However, my destination after this joyride was KLCC, so Abdullah Hukum made not much difference to me, since I would need to change to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line anyway.

83 Class EMU24

83 Class EMU24 has longitudinal seats with orange SkyPark Link seat covers.

The route map, however, reflects the KTM Komuter Northern Sector network.

I had also spotted EMU24 a couple of days ago at KL Sentral working on the SkyPark Link service.

What a hardworking train set.

Similar to SkyPark Link 83 Class train sets, the priority area at the ends of the coach are still in the regular blue seat covers.

A standing area is provided like regular 83 Class train sets instead of a luggage rack on board SkyPark Link 83 Class train sets.

Mind the gap.

My KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) departed from Klang Railway Station at 4.56pm on schedule.

Batu Tiga Railway Station was severely affected by floods the night before, and while train services have been restored, there was still remnants of mud on the platform.

Very bad flooding the night before, where you can’t tell where the platform edge is.

Yes, never thought I would say that in a sentence.

83 Class EMU31 operating on KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) arrived at Petaling Railway Station at 6.02pm – 17 minutes late.

The point and signal changed really fast, and the single track was cleared even before EMU31 made a complete stop at Petaling Railway Station Platform 2.

Departing from Petaling Railway Station even when EMU31 was still slowing down to a stop.

Abdullah Hukum Railway Station

My KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2156up (Klang-Abdullah Hukum Shuttle) arrived at Abdullah Hukum Railway Station at 6.12pm – 17 minutes late due to the late arrival of KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2153dn (Abdullah Hukum-Klang Shuttle) when crossing at Petaling Railway Station.

The train destination changed to Klang already, to operate for the next KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2157dn (Abdullah Hukum-Klang Shuttle) departing at 6.15pm.

The island platform of Platforms 2 and 3 was filled with bird droppings, probably not cleaned due to low passenger usage on this single track.

The next KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector 2157dn (Abdullah Hukum-Klang Shuttle) is now ready for departure.

A paper with a sign for the Abdullah Hukum-Klang Shuttle departures at 5.35pm and 6.15pm covers station names from Teluk Pulai to Pelabuhan Klang at Platform 3.

Heading up the escalator to the concourse level.

Thanks EMU24, my final KTM ride of Revenge Travel Semenanjung.

Heading out of the fare gates at Abdullah Hukum Railway Station.

Abdullah Hukum LRT Station

Abdullah Hukum LRT Station is connected to Abdullah Hukum Railway Station via an unpaid link. Transfer is very easy as the 2 stations are side by side.

Scan the MySejahtera QR code to check in to Abdullah Hukum LRT Station. From here, I continued on by the LRT Kelana Jaya Line to KLCC.

Er… Might be a wrong move on my part to transfer at Abdullah Hukum.

Perhaps continuing on the next KTM Komuter Klang Valley Sector train to KL Sentral would have given me a better chance at boarding the LRT Kelana Jaya Line train at Abdullah Hukum LRT Station.

Trains were running at a slow peak hour frequency of 4 minutes, and the dwell time at Abdullah Hukum was too short for passengers to alight and board completely.

I managed to get on board the third LRT train that arrived at Abdullah Hukum after squeezing past alighting passengers just before doors closed.
