Genting Dream Bistro by Reinhard Mammes
Bistro by Reinhard Mammes is one of Genting Dream’s specialty restaurants offering a Western fine-dining menu with premium cuts. On this cruise, I decided to dine at Bistro by Reinhard Mammes, this time from their à la carte menu.
Bistro by Reinhard Mammes is located on Deck 8 on board Genting Dream. For those who have sailed with her sister ship World Dream before, Bistro is located at the same space as Prime Steakhouse by Mark Best.
There are 2 indoor seating areas at Bistro by Reinhard Mammes, with the front section more open and the one on the right from the entrance quieter with booth seats.

There was also a Christmas menu and Tomahawk steak offered.
I had considered taking up the Christmas menu, but after a short consideration, I would have preferred my own choices in the à la carte menu, so I went ahead with that.
My dinner started off with some bread after my order was taken.
Truffle and Foie Gras Ravioli
My first appetiser course was Truffle and Foie Gras Ravioli.
The Truffle and Foie Gras Ravioli was served with Morrel Mushroom Ragout and Veal Glaze. This was nicely al dente with good stuffing in each ravioli.
Lobster Bisque
My next appetiser course was Lobster Bisque, listed as a Signature Dish in the menu.
The Lobster Bisque was served piping hot. Drops of cognac and parsley oil garnished the Lobster Bisque.
Australian Grass Fed Sirloin
For my main course, I ordered the Australian Grass Fed Sirloin.
The Australian Grass Fed Sirloin was surprisingly the cheapest meat on the menu, I thought that award may have gone to the spring chicken. Nevertheless, this was still nicely done medium-rare as I ordered. Although this is definitely not a filet mignon, it’s still definitely better than Dream Dining Room.
I ordered Bordelaise sauce to accompany my steak, which I didn’t use much of as I was happy with the steak and jus alone.
A choice of peppercorn sauce, mushroom sauce, bordelaise sauce, béarnaise sauce, or Café de Paris butter was offered to accompany each steak.
On hindsight, I should have asked for Café de Paris butter instead since I wasn’t using much sauce.
Creamed Spinach
For a side dish to my steak, I ordered a Creamed Spinach.
A neighbouring table had ordered the S$268 + 18% service charge Tomahawk Steak, and that was finished right in front of them by their table.
I headed back to Bistro by Reinhard Mammes for a light lunch on another day.
Bread was served after my order was taken.
Alaskan King Crab and Spanner Crab Tartare
For my 1 appetiser for this lunch, I ordered the Alaskan King Crab and Spanner Crab Tartare, listed as a Signature Dish in the menu.
The Alaskan King Crab and Spanner Crab Tartare comes in 3 distinct parts on the plate.
The Alaskan King Crab was served half-shelled and was easy to peel off with a fork to appreciate it as a whole piece of crab. This was nice and sweet.
The middle course in the plate is the Chilled Tomato and Basil Mousse. This tasted sweet and sour, and wasn’t really to my taste.
The Spanner Crab Tartare was nice and creamy, served with caviar on top.
Gnocchi
My main course was Gnocchi, listed as a Signature Dish in the menu.
The Gnocchi was served with Morrel Mushroom, Roasted Cauliflower, Young Broccoli, and Lemongrass. The creamy sauce nicely coated the gnocchi.
Conclusion
Bistro by Reinhard Mammes on Genting Dream offers nicely portioned western fine-dining dishes in the à la carte menu. The prices don’t differ much as compared with the set menus on offer, so ordering à la carte may work better if you have certain dishes in each set that you may not like, or to simply order exactly what you’d like to have. Do note that dishes in the a la carte menu are chargeable in any class of cabin, as only the Palace Set Menu is included in The Palace.
