Genting Dream Halal Certified Buffet at The Lido

The Lido is Genting Dream’s Halal international buffet restaurant located at Deck 16.

Half of The Lido offers Halal food, certified by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC). Both local and international cuisines are offered in the long Halal buffet restaurant.

A sign is displayed in the queue to enter The Lido for all passengers to not bring any alcoholic beverages into the Halal area.

The other half of The Lido offers Jain and Indian Vegetarian food certified by certified by Global Vegetarian Certification Services (GVCS).

Much of the main galley on board Genting Dream is now Halal-certified by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), so there’s a lot more varieties of mains and snacks that Muslim passengers can choose from since more kitchen sections are now Halal.

Food is also transported by dedicated Halal lifts to prevent any cross-contamination.

Genting Dream Surau (Prayer Room) at Deck 5

For individuals, a Surau is available on Deck 5, alongside the row of meeting rooms. Follow the signs on screens which points to the Prayer Room.

Quran, mats, and compass are provided in the Surau on Deck 5.

Genting Dream Group Surau at Palm Court

If travelling in an organised Muslim cruise group, the Halal cruise tour itinerary may also include Islamic talks or prayers, for which, the Palm Court may be converted for such usage. Check with your group leader if such events are arranged.

Conclusion

Genting Dream operates with dual homeports out of Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), so it’s no surprise that there is a stronger presence for Halal products now that Malaysian guests make up a significant portion of passengers on board. The expanded Halal galley also offers a wide variety of Halal food that Muslim guests can choose from, from Malay to Chinese and Western.

Genting Dream also stops at Muslim-friendly destinations for shore excursions such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang (it’s Malaysia), and Phuket where approximately 35% of their population are Muslims, so it’s easy to find Halal food on shore as well.
